After the storm: cleared, hauled, documented

Once the wind drops, the Treasure Coast is a mess of downed trees, hangers and debris. We clear it in the right order — hazards first, access next, then the yard — and stage the debris so the county haulers take it.

Crew clearing downed oak limbs and debris from a flooded street after a Treasure Coast storm

The days after a hurricane have a rhythm, and doing it in the wrong order gets people hurt. We start with the true hazards — trees on structures, limbs over doorways, anything on a line — then open your driveway and walkways so you can move, then work through the downed trees and yard debris. Split and hanging limbs ("hangers") that didn't fall yet are brought down under control before they drop on someone.

Debris gets cut to the county's specifications and staged at the right-of-way so the FEMA and St. Lucie County contractors haul it, or we haul it ourselves if you'd rather not wait. And we photograph and itemize the damage and the work so your insurance claim has what it needs. We've done this after Irma and Nicole and every unnamed summer storm on the Treasure Coast.

Questions we get about storm cleanup & debris

Should I stage debris at the road or have you haul it?

Both work. If you stage it at the right-of-way, cut to county specs, the FEMA/county contractors will haul it free after a declared storm — but the wait can be weeks. If you want it gone now, we haul it ourselves for a fee. We'll tell you what the county is doing and let you choose.

Do you document damage for my insurance?

Yes — photos before we cut, the species and cause of failure noted, and an itemized invoice after. Homeowners with that documentation get their claims settled faster. We don't file the claim for you or offer to 'handle your deductible.'

How soon after a hurricane can you start?

As soon as sustained winds drop below about 35 mph and roads are passable. Trees on structures come first; general yard cleanup follows over the next several days. When you call we'll give you an honest place in line.

What about the trees that are leaning but didn't fall?

Those get assessed — some are fine, some have a lifted root plate and will go with the next blow. We'll tell you which is which, and take down the ones that are now hazards.
